Macquarie University Special Education Centre (MUSEC), the Centre for Research and Teaching in Special Education, enjoys an international reputation for the quality of its research, its excellence in postgraduate teaching and its contribution to program development in the area of Special Education.

For over twenty five years MUSEC has been at the forefront in researching and developing data-based instructional and behaviour management procedures for students with disabilities and special needs. What is practised and what is taught are research-based, data-driven procedures of proven empirical effectiveness.

MUSEC currently offers four postgraduate certificates in Special Education, a postgraduate diploma and a Master of Special Education by coursework study, in addition to higher research degrees at masters and doctoral level. Special educators holding a postgraduate qualification in Special Education from MUSEC are highly regarded as pre-eminent practitioners by the educational and broader disability industry.
