Established in 2001 with unique facilities, the school provides a quality education to meet the needs of 21st century students. In 2006 the school comprises a middle school; years 7, 8 and 9, and a senior school catering for years 10, 11 and 12.

Forest Lake State High School has been master planned and designed to support the new Education 2010 strategy. The strategy provides Educational Facilities that embrace the future and provide safe, tolerant environments within which students, teachers and the wider community can engage and learn from.
